Looking for a property to buy within reasonable striking distance of the school they’d already signed up for was not so easy, especially as Jenny, a fashion designer with a great reputation for doing things differently, was keen to find something out of the box. After months of house hunting she spotted an old Victorian schoolhouse nestling in the foothills of the South Downs, near to Goodwood polo, Glynbourne and within striking distance of the sea. With two large double height classrooms joined to a small headmasters’ house, it offered the large spaces Jenny was looking for, along with some quirky characteristics and a chequered history, which satisfied her criteria for something different.
